In September, 2005 when several passionate Chinese project management practitioners started a fellowship at a Tim Horton somewhere in Scarborough, Ontario, they had no idea they were creating a movement.What began as a simple means of training themselves to keep Project Management Professional (PMP) credential has developed as Chinese Project Management Professionals (CPMP) Association of Canada.

CPMP is a registered not-for-profit organization run by volunteer Board of Directors and volunteer members. CPMP dedicates to nurture Chinese project management practitioners living in Canada, to integrate our competencies and value ourselves in project management world.  

As many Chinese professionals are finding out, project management skills are necessary to secure a job or advance a sagging career. In fact, many Canadian employers have realized that they can always get technical experts on a team, but it's often challenging to find a technical SME (subject matter expert) who has good people management skills and the patience to follow through on all the administrative/process side of project management.

To help those practitioners who have just ventured into project management world, as well as those who are more experienced in this field, CPMP has conducted eleven seminars/workshops since inception. The subjects of these seminars spanned all nine knowledge areas and five process groups defined by Project Management Body of Knowledge (PMBOK) of PMI. Moreover, CPMP has committed and will continue to devote its passions, energies, and resources to network with colleges, corporations, and various professional associations, to deliver volunteer projects for the communities, to bridge China-Canada project management joint ventures, and more.
